Chitwan National Park, established in 1973, is Nepal's first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spread over 952.63 sq km in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands, it's one of the best wildlife viewing destinations in Asia. The park is home to the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, gharial crocodile, and over 500 species of birds. Activities include jungle safaris by jeep and elephant, canoe rides on the Rapti River, nature walks, bird watching, and visits to the Tharu cultural museum. The park's diverse ecosystems include dense sal forests, grasslands, and riverine habitats.
