Bardia National Park is the largest national park in the Terai, covering 968 sq km of pristine wilderness. Unlike the more touristy Chitwan, Bardia offers a wilder, more authentic jungle experience with fewer visitors. It has the highest density of Bengal tigers in Nepal, along with wild elephants, one-horned rhinoceros (relocated from Chitwan), gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles, Gangetic dolphins, and over 400 bird species. The park is bisected by the Karnali River, providing excellent rafting opportunities combined with wildlife viewing.
