Pashupatinath Temple is the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal and one of the most significant Shiva temples in the world. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, this UNESCO World Heritage Site dates back to the 5th century. The pagoda-style temple complex includes numerous smaller temples, ashrams, and ghats where Hindu cremation ceremonies take place. The temple's main structure features a distinctive two-tiered golden roof and silver doors, accessible only to Hindus. The complex is also home to troops of rhesus macaque monkeys and sadhus (holy men) who add to its vibrant atmosphere.
