Pokhara is Nepal's tourism capital and gateway to the Annapurna region. Situated at 827m, the city enjoys a mild climate and is dominated by the stunning Phewa Lake, which reflects the Annapurna and Machapuchare peaks on clear days. The lakeside area (known as Lakeside or Baidam) is filled with hotels, restaurants, and adventure sports operators. Activities include paragliding, ultralight flights, zip-lining, bungee jumping, boating on Phewa Lake, and visiting the World Peace Pagoda. The city serves as the starting and ending point for many of Nepal's most popular treks.
